ZRC 1904: a brand like no other !
ZRC 1904 is definitely not a common watch brand for at least 2 main reasons: its rich history and its unique design!
ZRC, founded in 1904 by Edmond Zuccolo and Joseph Rochet has constantly innovated by imagining bracelets and straps and then dive watches.
In 1917, the firm won the highly-coveted Prix de l’Industrie Nouvelle de Genève (Geneva Prize for NEW Industry) for having developed the first-ever extendable metal bracelet and became world leader for producing it.
From 1958 and 1995, ZRC gets renowned and appreciated for being a strong partner and supplier of the French Navy.
In 2015, 50 years after the first Grands fonds 300, Georges & Charles Brunet, at the head of the family business (great-grandsons of Joseph Rochet), launch the study of the re-issue of this iconic model. The ZRC® GF300 is reborn.
Since then, the brand has been expanded with different new references and limited editions and interesting innovations such as the patented Easy Clean System to be able to rinse the components exposed to the different elements and thus prolong their integrity.
But ZRC is also loved for its strong design signature! Every one who has seen a ZRC once in his life can identify it at a glance. Indeed, ZRC is the only watch brand in this world having its crown located at 6 o'clock! This specific design which made the success of the ZRC GRANDS FONDS 300 was created in the 60's for a good meaning: helping the French Navy who identified a vulnerability during underwater manipulations by keeping the crown at the common 3 o'clock positioning. The GF300 positioning at 6 o'clock is therefore a functional choice for divers use before even being a design signature!
